Multiple tools, such as augmented reality (AR), AI-driven motion capture, and mycelium are used to intertwine and expand creative interaction through this public art mural.

Fusion of Art, Tech, and Nature

Unveiling the Cornish+ Collaborative Installation

Throughout 2023, Future Arts led a collaboration with Cornish College of the Arts faculty and students and local technology-focused artists to celebrate the launch of their new community-based education program, Cornish+. Grounding in the biomimicry theme of "heliotropism" - plants reaching toward the light - the artwork builds a metaphor for trusting collaboration through emergent strategy, rooted in nature’s systems.

Working across disciplines of dance, augmented reality, sculpture design, and emerging technologies such as AI-powered motion capture (MOVE.AI) and DYI mycelium (Grow.BIO), the interdisciplinary team generated a mixed reality, large-scale, interactive installation, visible from the Lenora side of the Ivey on Boren building. Launching September 15th, there will be public tours available with accessibility support, including a showing of a behind-the-scenes documentary film and discussions with creatives.
